Autumn Harvest and also Lindt Chocolate.

First up, comments;  I've installed disqus so that I can reply to comments and let the commenter know that how much appreciate and love her/him taking the time to let me know what they think.  This is the only way I can do this in blogspot - unlike other blogging platforms, they don't have a comment reply function. So it was either disqus or moving the blog.  Let me know if its causing any dramas, and if you don't want to use it, do feel free to email me at caitlyn.nicholas@gmail.com.

Thank you for reading about the comments.  Now I shall make the tedium worth it.  You see over at Singular Insanity, Dorothy has got this amazing Lindt chocolate give away going on.  Click here to enter.  I'm talking $250 of Lindt Chocolate AND $250 Myer gift voucher - and no, I'm not getting any extra entries for mentioning it here - I just think its a great competition, and Dorothy is one cool chick.

Frills in the Hills is doing a similar giveaway - enter there for a second chance :)

$250 of Lindt chocolate, yes that's it in the hamper... I can hear Jan my weightwatchers leader howling "Nooooooooooo," at the very thought.  Entries close Thursday 5th May.

So, we were over at Mumndads building site house last week, and I went for a forage in the much neglected veggie garden.  Came back with four pumpkins, a crumble's worth of rhubarb and another 2kgs of strawberry guavas.
Excellent haul
I see pumpkin soup in my future, and more strawberry guava jelly, I wonder if it will set this time :)

10 people love me:

Strawberry guava sounds delicious. It makes me wish I lived somewhere where I could grow stuff like that! Also, pumpkins? I want your seasons - mine died months ago (sob). I could be a little bit bitter about how this year's season turned out.

Oh but you get to grow wonderful wonderful apples and other colder climate fruit. I envy you back!! Also don't get me started on the mildews, fungus and slugs, we get because it never gets cold enough to knock them off.

Oh your parent have really nice harvest. We are still putting on hope on our pumpkin plants to give us some.

My rhubarb is looking rather dreary; I think I need to google for some tips.

I'm off to visit Dorothy...

I am not even going to consider looking at that Lindt offer - I have only one pair of work trousers left that I can get into and they are held together with a safety pin! I could use the Myers voucher to get some new ones though.

Yeah, I know what you mean, its kind-of a double edged giveaway. I reckon if I win I'll keep the voucher and pass the chocolate around to family and friends (especially the skinny ones!!) Well except for the white chocolate, and the lindt balls, oh and the dark chocolate for hubs, and... hmm. Maybe I'll just keep it all :)

This rhubarb was deeply and fundamentally neglected - if that helps. The rhubarb in my garden, which is loved and cared for, has big leaves on stalks that are about 20cm tall and show no sign of turning red - and it is a red turning rhubarb. hmmm.

Pumpkins can be difficult I've found. Some people grow loads with no effort, but not me!!! We've managed two from our vines this year - they just never seem to have any girl flowers, or if they do they turn yellow and drop off before they get any bigger than thumb size. We got our two pumpkins after we installed a watering system in the veggie garden, so I am wondering if water has something to do with it.

I think if anyone, Naomi, you could make the best use of the giveaway - lots of people to help with the chocolate!! I hope you win it too :)
